We have been working getting necessary signatures to the Preliminary Petition for the creation of the new district. The results are favorable but we have not reached our goal of over 50 %. I do believe that we will be successful. We are following –up with folks answering questions they may have and encouraging them to return the signed petition. When the necessary signed petitions are received, we will present that information to the Town Board. We will update this information when the required signatures are received.
In case you are not aware, the Town Board had the harvester removed from the lake in October 2009. The reasons given by the Town Supervisor are that after review of the original documents filed in 1976 to form the existing dam district (designated as Lake Hadlock Park District), the harvester should not have been purchased through the Lake Hadlock Park District and should not be operated with funding through the district. At this time, there is no plan to return the harvester to the lake for the 2010 season. We will update this information when there are any changes.
